The PGVIM International Symposium 2024 invites participants to engage with this year\u2019s theme, Dreamland \u2013 A Land of Conversations<\/em>. Over the past year, how has the world of music evolved? This annual gathering provides a platform to reflect on changes, exchange knowledge, and explore the future of music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Symposium of Ideas, Stories, and Collaboration<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s symposium moves beyond the conventional model of a single expert delivering knowledge from the stage. Instead, it fosters collaboration among individuals of different generations and backgrounds, creating an environment where new ideas emerge, existing paradigms are questioned, and musicians are encouraged to innovate in a rapidly evolving world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keynote Presentations & Panel Discussions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Each day will feature keynote presentations by renowned institutions, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Universit\u00e4t Mozarteum<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Conservatoire national sup\u00e9rieur de musique et de danse de Lyon<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Royal Conservatoire of Scotland<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    In addition, panel discussions will include contributions from:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Royal Irish Academy of Music<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • And other leading institutions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      These discussions will extend beyond music education, addressing the role of music across various contexts, from traditional and contemporary performance to its impact on society and culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Music: Conflict and Harmony \u2013 Dreamland<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      Now in its 11th edition, the symposium explores the theme of music as both harmony and conflict<\/strong>. Does true artistic fusion exist without moments of friction and adaptation? How do moments of struggle shape musical identity?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Several sessions will focus on music as a tool for resolving conflict<\/strong>, while others will highlight how balance between structure and tension creates beauty in music<\/strong>. The discussions will go beyond musical contrasts to examine broader themes in society, culture, human experience, nature, and technology<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Featured projects include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • A new chamber opera presented by Yong Siew Toh Conservatory<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • A creative initiative from Seoul National University<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        A Collaborative Effort \u2013 International and Thai Institutions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

        PGVIM is proud to collaborate with leading Thai universities, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        • Silpakorn University<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Chiang Mai University<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Mahidol University<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Thammasat University<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          These institutions will participate in panels and discussions aimed at shaping a \u201cDreamland\u201d<\/strong> where diverse perspectives in music coexist, challenge one another, and contribute to new ways of thinking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          10 Concerts in One Day \u2013 A Musical Experiment<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

          This year, the symposium once again features 10 concerts in a single day<\/strong>, highlighting performances by emerging ensembles and internationally recognized young musicians<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          The program includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          • Tacet(i), a contemporary music ensemble exploring new sonic possibilities<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • A modular synth collective presenting cutting-edge electronic music<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

            PGVIM International Symposium 2024 promises to be an immersive experience where ideas, performances, and discussions redefine the possibilities of music in an ever-changing world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
