Project/Activity Rationale

In accordance with the aspirations of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra to develop classical music in Thailand, the Bachelor of Music program at Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music aims to produce exceptional music professionals and integrate musical knowledge with other disciplines to advance society. The objectives are as follows:

1. To produce graduates with high potential in classical music
2. To develop music professionals who are creative and well-adapted to societal contexts

Project/Activity Objectives

1. To provide opportunities for Institute students to gain musical experience at the national level
2. To encourage international students to participate in exchange programs at Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music and establish mutual learning networks

Funding Criteria Students applying for financial support must have won first to third place, a gold medal, or equivalent awards to be eligible for committee consideration. The funding will be provided based on actual expenses, not exceeding 40,000 baht per academic year per person. The amount varies according to the continental region where the student participates in activities or competitions, as detailed below:

1. Domestic or ASEAN region: Not exceeding 20,000 baht per person per fiscal year
2. Asian region: Not exceeding 30,000 baht per person per fiscal year
3. European and other continental regions: Not exceeding 40,000 baht per person per fiscal year

Research Opportunities

The Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music allocates funding from its revenue fund to support research, creative research, or creative works. The funding is categorized into six types as follows:

  1. Strategic Research Support Grants
    Grants for research or creative research projects that align with the institution’s identity, uniqueness, research mission, or administrative policies. These may also extend government, business, or other organizational research and innovation frameworks to enhance existing research, innovations, or relevant projects. The aim is to ensure practical utilization and broad dissemination of research outcomes without duplicating previous work.
  2. Creative Work Support Grants
    Grants for creative works that reflect the institution’s identity, uniqueness, research mission, or administrative policies. These works should convey aesthetic value, philosophy, and ethics or provide social reflection through the integration of music and related arts, contributing to the understanding of meaning and value in creative work.
  3. Teaching and Learning Development Grants
    Grants for research, manuals, textbooks, and teaching materials designed to enhance modern teaching methodologies. These grants may also support the further development of research for academic and professional benefits, as well as other related projects.
  4. Academic Position Application Grants
    Grants for research or academic works that align with specific disciplines and support researchers in applying for academic positions.
  5. New Researcher Support Grants
    Grants aimed at developing the research capabilities of emerging researchers, fostering high-quality research and creative works. These grants also prepare researchers for future funding opportunities by ensuring their research aligns with the scope of the Strategic Research Support Grants.
  6. Other Types of Grants
    Grants for research or creative research projects that do not fall under the specified categories.

Seminar on Moral and Ethical Development and Team Bonding for PGVIM Personnel

This seminar aims to foster the moral and ethical development of Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music (PGVIM) personnel while strengthening relationships among colleagues.

On the morning of August 1, 2024, participants will begin with a merit-making ceremony and pay homage to the revered Buddha image, Phra Phuttha Trairattananayok, at Wat Phanan Choeng. Following this, they will explore the historical significance of Thai heritage at Wat Mahathat, deepening their understanding of the country’s cultural roots.

The seminar will also feature interactive workshops designed to enhance team bonding and integrate ethical principles within the organization. Through engaging activities such as ethical awareness games, problem-solving challenges, and expressive communication through body language, symbols, and spoken word, participants will develop essential soft skills. Each team will have the opportunity to create and perform a morality-themed play, reinforcing the core values of ethics and teamwork.

PGVIM New Year celebration 2026

PGVIM organized a New Year celebration for its staff, featuring a festive program designed to foster camaraderie and a joyful atmosphere.

The event included themed attire, allowing participants to dress according to a designated concept, as well as a shared meal that encouraged social interaction among colleagues. Highlights of the celebration also included a gift exchange activity and a lucky draw, where attendees had the opportunity to win special prizes presented by the institute’s executives.

PGVIM Conducts Study Visit on Research Ethics, Legal Frameworks, Technology, and Research Management at Prince of Songkla University

On February 17-18, 2025, Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music (PGVIM) participated in a study visit on human research ethics, legal frameworks, technology, and research management at Lertphat Meeting Room, Research and Development Office, Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Hat Yai Campus.
PGVIM extends its gratitude to Associate Professor Dr. Suphasil Maneephrat, Director of the Research and Development Office, PSU, and Assistant Professor Dr. Somchai Sriwiriyachan, Chairman of the PSU Human Research Ethics Committee, for their valuable insights on establishing a research ethics unit and fostering research integrity.
Additionally, PSU research experts facilitated discussions on key topics such as:

Publishing in Scopus-indexed journals, presented by the editorial team of the Songklanakarin Journal of Science and Technology (SJST)
University research management, including planning, budgeting, strategies, and research policies
Information technology systems for research administration
This visit marks the first step toward future collaborations between PGVIM and PSU, strengthening academic and research ties between the two institutions.

PGVIM organized a merit-making ceremony in celebration of the Songkran Festival 2026

The executives and staff of the Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music organized a merit-making ceremony in celebration of the Songkran Festival, with the aim of preserving cherished Thai traditions and bringing auspiciousness during the Thai New Year.

The event featured a spirit house worship ceremony, paying respect to the guardian spirits and sacred entities within the Institute to bless both the premises and its personnel. This was followed by a traditional water-pouring ritual over Buddha images, held at the second-floor foyer of the Administration Building.

PGVIM executives and staff visited Siam Pattumwan House

PGVIM executives and staff were warmly welcomed by Siam Music Yamaha Co., Ltd., which graciously opened Siam Pattumwan House—an eco-friendly building in the heart of Bangkok designed under the LEED® Building concept—for a study visit and exchange of ideas on educational management.

The visit proved highly inspiring, showcasing not only cutting-edge music technology and instruments, but also sustainable building management practices that clearly reflect a forward-looking vision for the future.

The Holistic Development and Staff Engagement Seminar 2025, at The Tree Riverside Kaeng Krachan Hotel, Phetchaburi

PGVIM executives, faculty members, and staff participated in the Holistic Development and Staff Engagement Seminar 2025, held from 18–20 September 2025 at The Tree Riverside Kaeng Krachan Hotel, Phetchaburi Province.

This program, which combined strategic review sessions with team-building activities, played a vital role in strengthening mutual understanding, trust, and relationships among executives, faculty, and staff. It fostered a collaborative and dynamic working environment, empowering all participants to work cohesively as a team and to contribute meaningfully toward creating sustainable value for society.
