Born in the culturally rich Ratchaburi Province and raised in a family of educators, Suppabhorn Suwanpakdee’s journey in music is as inspiring as it is impressive. With a foundation rooted in a diverse linguistic environment, he has always embraced the beauty of cultural expression.
From a young age, Suppabhorn’s passion for music was nurtured by his family’s encouragement. A dedicated student of violin and viola, he has studied under esteemed mentors like Asst Prof Dr Tasana Nagawajara and Thai National Artist Asst Prof Col Choochart Pitaksakorn. His pursuit of musical excellence culminated in a Bachelor of Music in Violin and Viola Performance with First-Class Honors from Silpakorn University and a Master of Arts from Mahidol University. Then, he advanced his knowledge through a Doctor in Fine and Applied Arts at Chulalongkorn University, , where he developed the concept of the Cross-Cultural Music Process under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Weerachat Premananda.
Suppabhorn’s contribution to music extends far beyond academia. He has performed with prestigious orchestras, including the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra and Bangkok Symphony Orchestra, and has showcased his artistry in Europe, featuring in major cities like London and Berlin. As an Ensemble Music Makers (EMM) co-founder, he continues to innovate in contemporary and experimental music.
A transformative moment in his career came through the mentorship of Silpathorn Artists Anan Nakkhong and Asst Prof Dr Anothai Nitibhon, which led him to discover the power of music as a tool for social change. This passion drives Suppabhorn’s commitment to working with marginalised communities across Thailand, celebrating the beauty of ethnic music traditions and creating inclusive musical experiences.
Currently serving as the Acting Vice President of the Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music and an Assistant Professor in the School of Music, Suppabhorn is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of musicians and cultural leaders.
